The 8th Annual National Famine Commemoration will be held in Newry. The official Commemoration event which will take place at Albert Basin, will include a formal state ceremony as well as cultural historical and musical contributions appropriate to the occasion. This will be the highlight of the Councils Famine Commemoration programme and will culminate in a wreath laying ceremony and a minute’s silence in remembrance of those who were lost through death and emigration.
